Heck, I would like to add my vote but for two problems. Firstly, I have only heard one programme from the latest series as I am a few weeks behind in my radio-listening. Secondly, I do not know how to make up my mind.
Paul Merton is the gold standard of JAM, but on the other hand does he have to be on every show? I suppose gun-against-my-head-have-to-chose it would have to be Mr Merton, but I am perhaps over familiar with some of his approaches to the humour of the game. Probably the one on the list that would make me think, "Oh good.", the most on the list would be Shappi Khorsandi, because although hopeless at the game, she did try very hard with great charm, and her failures were usually very funny. I notice (from checking your web-site) she did not appear on the last series, but whether that was because she was not asked back for not being good enough or it was for being unwilling to come back who knows? I think Shappi could have been the new Peter Jones, never very good at the game but very good comedic value for money all the same.
So basically, I am refusing to vote. Sorry about that.
How about starting a campaign for the BBC to have Just A Minute be one of the programmes that they do a podcast for? In my limited experience of young people, if they can put it on their mp3-player, there is a new audience for the show that otherwise will never listen to it. JAM and Clue seem to be the two most popular Radio Four programmes according to Listen Again figures that are not available in this form.
Challenge!
Repetition of "on the list". Point to me.
Paul, Gyles, Sue, Julian
BTW you can create quite nice polls using blogger...
I think a wonderful panel would be:
Jenny Eclair
Stephen Fry
Paul Merton
Graham Norton.
My "second string" would be:
Gyles Brandreth
Tony Hawkes
Josie Lawrence
Shappi Khorsandi
I'll vote for Ross, Pam, Charles, and Kit.
Tony HAWKS
Sue PERKINS
Kit HESKETH-HARVEY
Pam AYRES
it's a hard old choice, and i'd feel sad about roughly 80% of them were they not being on the show again.
for me though, the really tough one would be to name people who aren't on the roster any more who should be brought back. Steve Frost for me, terrible at the game, but hilarious as he foundered...
